We are happy you are interested in having a child in your life attend a session at Camp Holiday Trails!
Camp Holiday Trails (CHT) is a home away from home for our Campers. It is a place where they can be their best selves, discover their strengths, connect with others, and celebrate all kinds of successes. At CHT we hold each other up as we unplug from the world and plug in to nature and community. We are inclusive, accepting, and compassionate as we work together to overcome challenges and create a memorable Camp experience.
Located in Charlottesville, Virginia, Camp Holiday Trails is an overnight camp for children with medical needs. Our Campers, ages 7-17, are welcomed from throughout the United States with the majority coming from the Mid-Atlantic region. CHT first opened in 1974 and hosts over 250 campers each year. Our staff creates a positive camp experience that has impact lasting long beyond the summer weeks. At CHT, our medical support allows campers to take safe risks and try new activities and experiences. We engage campers in traditional camp activities such as: archery, canoeing, high & low ropes, climbing wall, arts and crafts, horsemanship, swimming, athletics, nature, and music designed to build self-confidence, increase social competence, improve independence around personal medical care, and foster community.
Our beautiful 75 acre facility features challenging topography: flat spaces at Camp are few and far between and our roads and paths are gravel and mulch. We believe every child deserves a meaningful camp experience, and we realize we are, unfortunately, not a fit for every child. That’s why we partner with families like you to determine if we can provide a positive Camp experience for your child(ren). If we determine CHT is not the best Camp for your child, we are happy to provide you with names of other camps that may be a better option.
At Camp Holiday Trails we believe in partnering with families to make sure CHT is a fit for your camper. Please read our eligibility requirements before filling out an application.

Who Attends CHT- Eligibility:
ACCEPTANCE TO CHT
Acceptance to CHT is based on a review of the Camper’s application by our Program and Medical staff. Decisions are made considering space; physical, mental, emotional, and social health care needs; and staffing ratios. We try to accommodate everyone, but please know that our first priority is the health and safety of our Campers. If we determine we are not a fit for your child, we are happy to provide you with a list of other camps that may meet your family’s needs.
If you have any questions or would like to receive our Camp Referral List, please contact Chris, our Camp Coordinator at [email protected] or 434-977-3781, ext. 304.
